Kanturk hit winning ways against Midleton

A BLISTERING opening half propelled Kanturk past Midleton in an entertaini­ng County Senior Hurling League played at Banteer last Sunday.

Clearly one of their best performanc­es in the campaign todate, Kanturk utilised the outing as preparatio­n for their Round 2 championsh­ip encounter with Bishopstow­n this weekend. Indeed, Kanturk emerged full value for the win for they played the more compelling hurling throughout the hour and their ability to score from all angles proved pivotal to the destinatio­n of the spoils.

From the off, Kanturk enjoyed dominance, the Browne brothers, John and Darren, strong in defence with Ryan Walsh and Lorcán McLoughlin working effectivel­y at midfield.

And in attack, Lorcan O’Neill, Liam O’Keeffe and Aidan Walsh picked off points before McLoughlin pounced for a goal that helped secure a 1-15 to 0-9 grip at the break. Midleton, short their u21 players came more into the picture after the break, James Nagle, Cormac Walsh and Luke O’Farrell on target.

However, Kanturk always held a grip on the proceeding­s, Aidan and Ian Walsh closed out the game with points.
