Get the ball gowns ready for CUH annual fundraiser

- MARIA HERLIHY

THERE will be plenty of glitz and glam as the Cork University Hospital annual gala fundraising ball will take place at the Fota Island Resort.

So far up to €180,000 has been raised from the annual CUH Charity Gala balls, which have directly benefited patients in the Cancer, Children’s and Neurology Units at the hospital. Funds raised at this year’s event will go towards purchasing essential medical equipment and improving existing services at the CUH Breast Cancer Unit. Shane Falvey, Fundraising and Communications executive for CUH charity said that the annual CUH Charity Gala ball has had a significant impact on the patients at CUH and their families over the past number of years.

“We are very grateful for the support we have received from both the public and the corporate community throughout Cork and Munster,” he said.

“As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we hope the event will not only raise funds but also increase awareness about causes and prevention of breast cancer.”

The Gala Ball will be held on Friday, October 5. Over 300 guests will attend the event, supported by BAM Ireland, where they will enjoy a champagne reception followed by a fourcourse meal. There will be entertainment on the evening, as well as raffle prizes and a live auction. Tickets are €195 per person and €1,950 for a table of 10 people. Places are limited and booking is required.
