A thank you for helping an important resource

THE Millstreet Museum and Website wishes to extend its thanks to the public on contributing more than €2,300 towards its recent church gate collection.

This is the principal fund-raiser for both the Museum and the Website.

The major cost is insurance cover, which absorbs a significant portion of its overall funds. Heating, lighting and communication costs are also quite substantial.

Millstreet Museum curator Seán Radley applauded the support of the public towards the Museum and website.

“In order to sustain the local service, it is hoped that some additional form of funding may become available throughout the coming year to allow us meet with ongoing expenses. Heartfelt thanks for helping us to maintain these local services,” he said.

“Having Myra Sheehan assisting in our Museum under a Government Scheme has meant such a lot, and we only so wish such a hugely valuable Scheme could be extended.

“We’re sincerely thankful to our website team who give of their talents and time entirely on a spontaneous manner to help maintain one of the most highly regarded community websites in Ireland,” said Seán.

And there is an opportunity for people nationally and internationally, who may at any time contribute towards the upkeep of the Millstreet Museum and Website services.

“To this effect we have arranged to set up an electronic system with the Bank of Ireland here in Millstreet where our Museum/Website account exists whereby anyone can transfer a desired donation to the account by just quoting at one’s own Bank our relevant numbers”, said Seán.

The numbers are as follows: the IBAN is IE22; BOFI is 9058 0334 0531 43; and the BIC number is BOFIIE2D.

“We are most grateful to the many people who have very kindly used this method of support over the past year,” Seán said.

“It gives a real opportunity especially to those living abroad to assist us in our efforts to continue the services of Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Community Website.”
