Quiz night in memory of FF stalwart Donal

- BILL BROWNE

MEMORIES of the late Millstreet Fianna Fail stalwart Donal Guiney will be rekindled during a very special gathering in his honour taking place in his home town on Friday, September 28.

Mr Guiney, who had been an active member of the Fianan Fáil party since the early 1960’s and who worked tirelessly on behalf of the local community, passed away in May of this year.

Party members from across the north Cork region, family and friends will gather at McCarthy’s Bar for a table quiz hosted by the Millstreet Fianna Fáil cumann.

In addition to honouring Mr Guiney’s commitment to Fianna Fáil and his many achievements, the event will also raise badly needed funds for the Canon O’Donovan Day Care Centre in Millstreet.

Cork North West TD Michael Moynihan said the evening would be a fitting tribute to a man who devoted his life to the party and the town he loved so much.

“A dedicated community activist, Donal was involved in numerous committees over more than five decades and his legacy is still very much in evidence across many Millstreet clubs and organisations,” said Deputy Moynihan.

“The love and passion he had for Fianna Fáil set Donal apart. A regular attendee of party Ard Fheiseanna, Donal was a passionate and deeply committed member who enjoyed the thrill of election and recognised the importance of meeting voters face-to-face,” he added.
