An early ‘culture night’ with Toastmasters
SPEAKEASY Toastmasters continues their meeting season in The Hibernian Hotel on tonight Thursday, September 20 at 8pm.
Now, in its 26th year, Speakeasy Toastmasters draws membership from a broad geographical area that stretches across the Duhallow and Avondhu regions. Their objective is to help their members communicate with confidence.
Good communication skills are essential in many areas of life - from delivering work presentations or special occasion speeches to job interviews or inter-personal communication. Through participation at Toastmasters meetings, members also acquire leadership skills which can be put to good use in other community and sporting organisations.
Toastmasters members also devote time to introducing Communication Courses in Secondary Schools. Each November, participants from various schools are invited to participate in the Speakeasy Toastmasters Schools Public Speaking Competition. Last year, Scoil Treasa, Kanturk won the Best Overall School Award while Darragh Healy Fitzgerald of Scoil Mhuire won the Best Speaker Award.
Guests are always welcome at their meetings and are not obliged to speak unless they wish to do so. September is always a good month to take up a new activity or learn a new skill. Speakeasy Toastmasters provides the opportunity to acquire a valuable skill.
