Jerry O’Keeffe

The death occurred on Saturday, September 15, at Mallow General Hospital of Jerry O’Keeffe, Pollardsto­wn, Mitchelsto­wn.

The late Jerry was in his 80th year and was very well known locally. He was a founder member of Ballygibli­n hurling club in the mid-’50s and played with the first teams fielded. He was on the Novice Hurling side that won the Divisional championsh­ip in 1963.

He was a very good fund-raiser and attended all Ballygibli­n matches up to his illness about a month ago. The late Jerry was predecease­d by his wife, Sheila (née Ryan). His popularity was borne out in the large and represente­d attendance at his daughter’s residence for his Funeral on Sunday evening, and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Monday.

Interment took place to Brigown New Cemetery. To his daughters, Catherine and Tina; grandchild­ren, Darren, Jenny, Gavin, and Tracey; great-grandchild­ren, Chloe, Tyesha, Jade, Skye and Tori: sisters, Bridie (Tattan) Kathleen (Rubano), Elsie (Doyle), Liz ( Walsh) and Margaret (Shanahan); brothers, Dave and Jim; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews; nieces; relatives; neighbours; and many friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.

Tom O’Brien

The death occurred on September 10 at Cork University Hospital of Thomas (Tom) O’Brien, Carragane, Mitchelsto­wn. The late Tom was well known locally. He was predecease­d by his wife, Catherine ‘Kitty’ (née Keane). There was a very large attendance at the removal on Wednesday evening from the Chapel of Rest, Baldwin St, Mitchelsto­wn, to the Parish Church.

There was a large attendance also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Thursday. Interment took place to Brigown New Cemetery.

To his sons, John, Danny, David and Terence; daughters, Michelle, and Rosaleen (O’Sullivan); son-in-law, Kevin; daughters-in-law, Colette, Rosalind; grandchild­ren; nephews; nieces; relatives; neighbours and many friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.
