‘COUNTRY WITH A KICK’ AS SEAN LAUNCHES NEW CD

‘COUNTRY with a kick’ is how singer songwriter Seán Bowman describes his latest album which he launched at the Cottage Bar in Dromina last Saturday night. Originally from the American midwest, Seán now lives in Churchtown and is already well known locally in music and drama circles.

“I had released stuff previously in the US but after coming to Ireland I took a break from song writing and recording” Sean told The Corkman.

However, his love of music and performing was reignited after getting interested in the Irish music scene while attending sessions at Scully’s in Newmarket and over the wider North Cork area. “I just kind of found myself back in the song writing again, and the inspiratio­n of Irish traditiona­l music really got my head back in the game” Seán explained.

‘Sitting in the Sun’ features 12 self penned numbers and includes a hidden bonus track.

“I grew up around bluegrass and country music so that’s really the basis of it, I like blues music and southern rock, so different styles are infused in there to give it country with a kick,” he explained with a smile.

Sean paid tribute to C103 Presenter Seán Donellan who was on hand to launch the CD. “He’s been a great support to country music in Ireland for a long time and to me personally through playing my music and publicisin­g the launch” he added.
