Abbey Rovers advance to final

Abbey Rovers 3-10 Deel Rovers 0-5

ABBEY Rovers had an easy win over Deel Rovers in the JBFC(1) semi-final at Glantane on Sunday. Both sides were short some key players.

The Castletownroche side, who earlier this season were crowned County JCFC winners, took control and the outcome was never in any real doubt. They had a goal by Mark O’Callaghan in the first minute with Dylan O’Connor following with a pointed free.

On top in midfield and attack Abbey Rovers continued to dominate exerting a lot of pressure on the Deel Rovers defence. Points by Muiris Browne and Dylan O’Connor were followed by a second Mark O’Callaghan goal after being put through by Dylan O’Connor. By the 22nd minute Abbey Rovers had moved 2-7 to 0-0 clear.

Deel Rovers never gave up and had their opening score in the 25th minute when Brian Murphy worked hard for Henry O’Gorman who pointed. Tadhg Cronin followed with a second point for the Milford side. In injury time Will Madden and Mark O’Callaghan combined well for Dylan O’Connor who goaled and helped his side to a comfortable interval lead 3-7 to 0-2.

On the resumption Deel Rovers improved a little but they lacked scoring power. Henry O’Gorman pointed for Milford with Adrian O’Donovan and Philip Murphy working well for Leon Farrell who kicked a very good point 3-8 to 0-3. Brian Murphy pointed a Deel Rovers free in the 42nd minute with Henry O’Gorman completing Deel Rovers tally in the 48th minute 3-8 to 0-5.

Abbey added two late points by Dylan O’Connor and James Ladd as they held out for an easy win in the end.

Abbey Rovers now face Grange the decider.
