PARKING

Parking is still causing major problems on the Station Road Buttevant with the indiscriminent parking by parents and guardians of pupils attending the local Colaiste Mhuire secondary school in that area. There is a continuous build-up of traffic at morning and evening times as parents park “willy nilly” and dangerously adjacent to the school. The parking of vehicles is also affecting businesses in the industrial park close to the school as parents show no respect towards the businesses operating in the business park.

Buttevant Community Council is constantly lobbying Cork County Council and the relevant exucational authority with little success. Each organisation involved is passing the responsibility back-and-forth to each other with. Owning being done to aleviate the dangerous situation on what is an extremely busy roadway. It is now time for both the school authority and the County Council and the Colaiste Management come together to work out an immediate and amicable solution to the situation. The current debacle is an accident waiting to happen which could have serious and fatal consequences.
