ATHLETIC CLUB NOTES

Athletes are now well on the way in preparing for the upcoming cross country season, with the first event due to take place on Sunday, 7 October. Hosted by West Muskerry AC, on this day the novice, under 23 men and women and the juvenile eage boys and girls events will take place.

The novice women’s race will start at 12pm followed by the men’s race. The first juvenile race, the under 10 girls, timed to start at 1pm, followed by the under 10 boys, etc up to under 18. Parents are requested to have children there before 12.30pm and report to Esther, Tim or Joe.

TRAINING TIMES–Mondays at Liscarroll for eight-year-olds and older, 6.30pm — 8pm. Fridays at Doneraile for eight-year-olds and older 6.30pm — 7pm. Little athletics for four-year-olds to seven-year-olds will continue in Liscarroll on Thursday night from 6.30pm — 7.30pm.

LADIES MINI MARATHON– Sunday last was Cork Ladies Mini Marathon Day in Cork city. Between 7500 and 8000 competitors took part. The organisers were blessed with a warm sunny day after overnight heavy rain. The race was won by Michelle Finn, Leevale AC in 20.48 minutes.
