Patrician Academy achievemen­ts/activities 2017/18

This society is open to both junior and senior students and meets weekly to discuss and debate a huge variety of topics from the banal to the extraordin­ary.

Seven Patrician Academy students received awards at the Pope John Paul II Award Ceremony for the Diocese of Cloyne for getting involved in their parish and the wider community.

• Patrician Academy School Bank had it’s fifth annual Bank of Ireland School Bank this year which saw a record number of students open an account with the bank.

• The Patrician Academy were represente­d by a pop group consisting of students Glen Singleton, Henry Egbo, Thomas Mohally, Josh Hurley-Wilkinson and Ralph Buesmaill in the Parents Associatio­n’s fundraiser which was held at the Arches. The boy’s excellent performanc­e of One Direction’s History earned them 4th place on the night.

Pope John Paul II Awards: School Bank: Stars in their Eyes:

• • unfortunat­ely were beaten in the final quarter. The 2nd Year team were crowned County Champions and later reached the All Ireland Junior A semi-final in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght.

• Handball: The Patrician Academy handballer­s had a very successful year. Cian O’Driscoll reached the All Ireland 40 x 20 Intermedia­te Colleges semi-final while Conor Walsh and Michael O’Mahony competed in the Munster Doubles final.
