THE Patrician Academy had a very successful and busy year in relation to co-curricular and extra curricular activities.

-

• 5th Year Chemistry students were given an interestin­g tour of the labs on a visit to Pfizers Ringaskidd­y. These students also competed in the Pfizer Senior Chemistry Quiz.

• The TY Technology class reached the final of the Dell EMC VEX Robotics National Championsh­ips in CIT.

Science: Technology: Young Social Innovators National Showcase 2018:

The YSI Class undertook a project on designing a suitable Eircode sticker, so that in an emergency, a house would be located without any complicati­on. They took part in the regional finals in City Hall in Cork.

TY students participat­ed in the Schools Enterprise Programme Awards Competitio­n. Their businesses included creating and selling innovative products like candles and board games.

• The Rotary Club participat­ed in the Rotary Interact Area Youth Leadership Competitio­n for North Cork.

• The Academy Student Council organised and participat­ed in various events during the year. These included:

• Sponsored School Cycle, Walk/Run

• Comhairle na nOg

• Health Week

• Darkness into Light Event

• Fundraisin­g for various local Charities for Christmas Hampers, PA Fundraiser ‘Stars in their Eyes’

• Biodiversi­ty Green Flag

The Patrician Academy Green Schools Committee participat­ed in many worthy projects this year culminatin­g in receiving their 5th Green Flag from An Taisce. A Biodiversi­ty Week was held in April and proved very successful amongst all students.

• 5th year student Eoghan Kenny received an award for his outstandin­g contributi­on to his school and the town of Mallow at the Garda Youth Awards which were held in the Charlevill­e Park Hotel.
