Easy win for Dromtariff­e over St Michaels in Mallow

Dromtarrif­fe 2-11 St Michaels 2-4

DROMTARRIF­FE easily advanced to the semi-final following their win over St Michaels on Tuesday night.

The Duhallow side opened with an early point. St Michaels worked a good movement along the flank that led to a delivery by David Hurley that was saved by the keeper Dan Mann but as he attempted to clear the ball rebounded into his own net.

Dromtarrif­fe responded immediatel­y Evan Murphy pointed and Daniel O’Keeffe followed with a good point. Shane Collins levelled from a free in the 11th minute. The winners keeper Dan Mann made a splendid save from Mark O’Keeffe.

Good play by Evan Murphy led to a point by Michael Healy. In the 24th minute Daniel O’Keeffe kicked a very good point as Dromtarrif­fe moved 0-6 to 1-1 clear. In the closing moments Shane Collins had a marvellous point.

As the game entered injury time good play by Denis O’Donoghue led to a well executed point by Shane Collins. St Michaels had a late point by David Hurley as they trailed 1-8 to 1-2 at the break.

The City side did well on the resumption. They lacked penetratio­n up front. Andy O’Connell pointed from play and a free as they came within four points after 40 minutes. Good play by Conor O’Callaghan to Daniel O’Keeffe led to a splendid save by Cian Hartnett.

Dromtarrif­fe forced a free that Daniel O’Keeffe converted. The winners had their second goal entering the final quarter when Shane Collins cut through but was denied by Cian Hartnett with the rebound coming to the well placed Shane Collins who netted.

Seamus O’Sullivan added a point with Conor O’Callaghan with a ‘45 that was punched over by O’Sullivan. St Michaels battled to the end. They had a goal by Dale O’Neill in the 58th minute.

Dromtarrif­fe held out for a deserved win and a semi-final with Iveleary this Saturday.
