Kildorrery through to Under 21 B final with comprehens­ive victory over BallyG

Kildorrery 1-16 Ballygarva­n 0-7

KILDORRERY advanced to the County Under 21 B final following their win over Ballygarva­n at Carrigtwoh­ill on Saturday evening.

The game was played on a solid surface in wet conditions. Ballygarva­n looked impressive in the opening minutes being on top in midfield and they took an early lead when Dylan O’Connor put Ray O’Halloran through for a point.

In the fifth minute a foul on Dylan Kent led to an equalising pointed free by James Keating. Good play for Ballygarva­n by Paul Sexton helped the South East side to go ahead again through Dylan O’Connor. Ballygarva­n struck four wides before Shane O’Neill placed Paddy Pigott for an equalising point in the 15th minute.

Kevin Noonan soloed through and pointed with Barry McIntyre levelling for the third time at 0-3 by the 19th minute. From here on Kildorrery got on top in vital sectors. They gained the upper-hand in midfield and their attack took some good scores.

A well placed puck-out by Cathal Walsh-O’Grady found Cathal Harrington who pointed. Darren McNamara followed with a point as they moved 0-5 to 0-3 clear. Kildorrery keeper Cathal Walsh-O’Grady saved well from Ray O’Halloran.

Ballygarva­n added two more wides before Kildorrery went three points clear when Cathal Harrington worked well for Dylan Kent who pointed. Good play by John Hunter to Shane O’Neill led to another fine point by Dylan Kent as Kildorrery led at the break 0-7 to 0-3. During the first half Ballygarva­n had 10 wides while Kildorrery had five in this period.

Kildorrery continued to dominate on the restart. Their defence were very solid and conceded a mere four points in this half. Anthony Crowley with a sideline cut found Paddy Pigott who placed Cathal Harrington for a point.

Dylan Kent worked well for Shane O’Neill who goaled as Kildorrery moved 1-8 to 0-3 clear. Dylan O’Connor pointed a Ballygarva­n free. P J Keating followed with a long range point. James Keating added another in the 45th minute good play by Kevin Noonan led to a Darren McNamara point 1-11 to 0-4. Ballygarva­n were reduced to 14 players. Both sides made a number of substituti­ons with

Kildorrery adding another five points while Ballygarva­n who battled to the end had late points by Calum Mackey and Cormac Dowd. Kildorrery now meet Sarsfields in the final on November 3.
