Big win for Buttevant over Laochra Óg in Rebel Óg U-16 semi-final

A PHYSICALLY stronger and better equipped Buttevant side were comprehensive winners over Laochra Og in the Rebel Og Central County U-16 B2 HC 13-a-side semi-final at Banteer on Sunday.
From the start the winners gained control throughout the field. JC Guiney Niall O’Connell and Kyle Bowles were in great form up front while Michael O’Neill, Niall O’Riordan and Kyle Trimm were also well on top. Niall O’Connell opened with a goal and a point before Aaron Hoare pointed for Laochra Og.
Further pressure saw JC Guiney and Kyle Bowles add points before Jack Sexton, James Slattery and Colin Murphy all worked hard for Brian Healy who goaled 1-6 to 1-1. It was all Buttevant with J C Guiney with a brace along with Kyle Bowles and Kyle Trim who added minors as Brian Healy replied for the Mid Cork side. At the break Buttevant were 1-11 to 1-2 clear.
The trend was much the same on the changeover, Kyle Bowles pointed for Buttevant with impressive George Lowry replying for Laochra Og.
Entering the final quarter Mark O’Connell placed J C Guiney for a goal with Niall O’Connell following with a goal after a three-man attack as the Avondhu side led 3-16 to 1-3.
The last quarter saw both sides make some changes as Buttevant added a further nine points while Brian Healy pointed for the Macroom Naomh Aban Clondroichead and Cill na Marthra combination.
Buttevant can expect far tougher tussle from Castlelyons in the County final this Sunday.
