GLANTANE CHESS CLUB

This chess club for ages 9-14 meets in Kilshannig Community Centre on Monday 5th November from 7-8.15pm (and fortnightl­y). Boys, girls, beginners and improvers all welcome. €2. Find us on Facebook.

Underage training times: U13s (06 & 07) Thursday 7-8pm; U11s (08 & 09) Monday 6-7pm;U9s (10 & 11) Tuesday 7-8pm;U7s (12 & 13), Saturday evenings; €2 for the hall . Helpers are needed for this age so please get in touch! These are subject to change so be sure you are on the right text list!

CLOTHES COLLECTION

Kilshannig juvenile GAA are hoping to raise much needed funds by extending the date for the clothes collection to Sat 27th Oct from 10am to 12pm in kilshannig GAA Complex. Bedding, curtains, clothes, shoes etc. welcome. Kindly contact committee members if you require further assistance. Many thanks.

LAHARN CROSS DANC

Laharn Community Action LTD is holding a fundraisin­g dance in Kades Kounty, Glenville on Saturday 20th October. Music will be provided by The Singing Jarvey and dancing will commence at 10pm until 12.30am. Admission is €10 and all moneys raised will go towards providing Open Air Crossroads Dancing at Laharn Cross for Summer 2019.

Hard luck to our Minor team who were defeated by Douglas in the County Quarter Final on Monday 15th October in Glantane. Thanks to Douglas for a great sporting game and congratula­tions on the win.

Congrats to our U-14 girls who beat Mitchelsto­wn on Friday 12th October in a fantastic Final at Glantane to win the Inaugural U14 North Cork Championsh­ip. Well done to everyone involved in the team on a great win. Thanks to L.J’s also for supplying food afterwards the team. event on Sunday, December 30. Meanwhile runners will have an opportunit­y to stretch the legs a little bit further with the annual 5k in Boherbue on December 27.

TUREENCAHI­LL BRIDGE CLASS

The community centre in Tureencahi­ll hosts bridge classes every Wednesday 11 p.m. to 1 p.m. and a cards practice session every Monday night 7.30 p.m. Everyone welcome. Details from 085 1741551.

A parish mission takes place in Rathmore and Knocknagre­e from October 20 to October 27.

The monthly ceili at the Old Schoolhous­e in Foyle will have Uí Bhriain on stage on this Friday, October 19, at 9.30 p.m.

YOGA

GAA FUN DAY

In associatio­n with the already mentioned 4k road race, Kiskeam GAA Club are making Sunday, October 28, a family fun day. At 3 p.m. a novelty fundraisin­g duck race on the River Araglen with refreshmen­ts served afterwards on the walkway.
