Boherbue
SPECIAL OCCASION
Friday last October 12 will forever be etched in the history books of Boherbue as it was on that date that the Chinese Minister for Agriculture and the Chinese Ambassador to Ireland visited the area in a farming fact finding mission.
Accompanied by a Chinese delegation and members of Teagasc, Bord Bia and Department of Agriculture officials including Junior Minister Andrew Doyle they visited the farm of Gerard and Majella Murphy and family at Knocknageeha having earlier toured the Department of Agriculture Research Centre at Moorepark.
This was a huge honour for the Murphy family and a testament to the high quality of their farming. The entourage also visited the local co-op and spent approximately two hours walking the farm with Gerard on hand to answer any queries and explain through an interpreter the various aspects of their farming.
They then returned to the local restaurant Anne’s Kitchen for some refreshments before departing the area. The fact that the Murphy farm was chosen with Moorepark as a live picture of farming in Ireland to impress a foreign delegation speaks volumes and they cannot be congratulated enough on being chosen for this important promotion.
