The organising committee, and the participants, of the Mick O’Regan Memorial Motorcycle Run,recently, presented, a cheque, the proceeds of the 2018event, to the representatives, of the Pieta House Organisation.

This event is always well supported, and raises a great deal of finance, for this worthy organisation.

This year the run accumulated the enormous amount of €30,019-, which will provide much needed, and valuable funding, toward this valuable service.

The memorial run is celebrating, six years in existence, and over this period of time has raised the sizeable financial sum of over €100,000.

Congratulations, and well done, to all concerned.

PARKING

Parking is still causing major problems, on the Station Road, Buttevant, with the indiscriminate parking in that area. There is a continuous build-up of traffic at morning and evening times, as people park, “willy nilly”, and dangerously adjacent to the school.

The parking of vehicles is also affecting businesses in the industrial park, close to the school as people show no respect towards the businesses operating in the business park.

It is now time for the relevant parties to come together, to work out an immediate, and amicable, solution to the situation. Many elected councillors and TD have indicated their willingness to help resolve the situation, but none, as yet, have made any advances to those concerned to resolve the situation.

The current debacle is an accident waiting to happen, which may, eventually, have serious consequences.
