Grants for Cork historical and archaeological research

-

RESEARCH Grants from the Cork Historical and Archaeological Society are now available.

To further encourage research on the history and heritage of Cork City and County, Cork Historical & Archaeological Society runs a yearly research grant scheme. There are two categories in the Scheme for which applications can be submitted (archaeology and history) and up to a maximum award of €1,000 can be considered. Individuals and groups are encouraged to apply, including local historians and archaeologists, postgraduate research students, as well as local societies and schools in Co. Cork.

The first category, that of archaeological work within the City or County of Cork, relates to projects that set out to record or analyze archaeological monuments, sites or landscapes, to include general area surveys as well as specialist studies involving field-walking, monument survey, architectural recording, geophysical survey etc. (but not archaeological excavation).

With regard to the second category – history – projects supported will be specialist studies connected to historical research (e.g. purchase of photographs, digital recording, folklore recording etc).

In respect of both categories funding support for small publication initiatives will also be considered.

The closing date for the scheme is 1st December 2018 and for full information as well as details of past projects supported visithttp://corkhist.ie/research-grants/
