1991 Duhallow 0-11 St. Finbarr’s 0-10

DUHALLOW retained the County SFC following a back to back wins over St. Finbarr’s in a closely contested decider at Pairc Uí Chaoimh.

From a tight, tense and highly exciting encounter, Duhallow were put to the pin of their collar on coming through this testing engagement. Though performing against the breeze in the opening half, Duhallow were well pleased to retire deadlocked at the break.

However, the Barr’s improved out of all proportion upon the restart to jump into a 0-10 to 0-7 advantage. Finding themselves in a precarious situation, Duhallow never panicked to play neat and combined football and points to Patrick Mahoney, Liam and Jimmy Dennehy swung the issue. 1998 Bantry Blues 0-17 Duhallow 2-6

DUHALLOW’S dreams of a county title laid in tatters as Bantry Blues turned on the style to emphatically deny the divisional side at Pairc Uí Chaoimh. On this occasion, Duhallow failed to follow up on a semi final win over Nemo Rangers with erratic shooting a major hindrance. A reshaped Duhallow improved substantially upon the resumption, their efforts rewarded on a brace of goals from John Paul O’Neill that cut the leeway but not the entire deficit.

2012

CASTLEHAVEN got the better of Duhallow in a scrappy contest at Páirc Uí Chaoimh to win their first county title since 2003 thanks to grabbing the only goal right on the hour mark from substitute Shane Nolan.

The sides were locked level either side of the interval, the West Cork club were soon hampered by the dismissal of a defender leaving Duhallow with a one-man advantage.

Despite some excellent work in midfield from Bertie O’Callaghan, Duhallow were unable to push clear though substitute Jack Cott helped nudge a narrow lead.

Then came the all-important goal as Castlehaven, who were beaten by UCC in the final twelve months previously came good when it mattered most.
