Minor B title for Clyda
Clyda Rovers 4-12 Aghabullogue 0-9
CLYDA Rovers had a comprehensive win over Aghabullogue in the Rebel Óg County Minor B 1 FC semi-final at Glantane on Friday night.
Early exchanges saw Aghabullogue dominate throughout the field. They had the opening four points by Tadhg Bradley and Cialan O’Sullivan two each. Conor Corbett opened Clyda’s account with a free and David Walsh followed with a point after good play by Ben O’Connor and Conor Corbett.
Clyda were now well in contention, their defence tightened up completely and Conor Corbett with a 17th minute free picked out Sean O’Callaghan who pointed. The sides were level in the 21st minute when Dominic Cronin with a point made it 0-4 each.
Tadhg Bradley and Cialan Murphy added a point each for the Mid Cork side. In the dying moments Clyda Rovers had a goal by Conor Corbett as they led at the break 1-5 to 0-6.
On the resumption good play by Darragh Buckley led to a goal by Ben O’Connor. Conor Corbett landed a pointed free 2-6 to 0-6. In the 37th minute a foul on Ben O’Connor led to another Conor Corbett pointed free.
Clyda forced a penalty when O’Connor was brought down and Eoin Walsh made no mistake as Clyda moved 3-8 to 0-6 clear after 38 minutes. There was no way back for Aghabullogue who battled to the very end.
The Mid Cork side were reduced to 13 players but kept up the pressure all through. They lacked scoring power up front. Luke Casey kept them in touch with a point. Further pressure by Clyda saw them add two rapid points by Conor Corbett with Tadhg Bradley replying in the 45th minute.
Clyda finished strong with a late goal by Luke Brophy and a Dominic Cronin point. They will now meet Naomh Aban in the county final.
