JUVENILE GAA
Dromtarriffe u14s claimed a county semi final spot over Clondrohid on a blustery Sunday morning in Millstreet. Clondrohid had a fantastic start with a goal from play, and Dromtarriffe’s full forward line of Andrew Healy and James O Sullivan raising the white flag as the crawl back to bring the match level at an early stage. 14 minutes into the first half, a fantastic break from Dromtarriffe lead to a goal from play for John Healy followed immediately with an O’ Sullivan goal putting Dromtarriffe up 6 points.
Two more goals from Clondrohid closed the gap and Dromtarriffe were just to get 3 more points in the final 15minutes of the first half but it was enough to see them go into the break at half team Dromtarriffe: 2-7(13) Clondrohid: 3-2(11) Straight after the half time break, point from John Healy increased the lead with O Sullivan, Andrew Healy and Midfielder Darragh Murphy adding to the score line. Clondrohid never fell apart from play but the just couldn’t convert their possession to a score.
Long range kick from Midfielder Finn McKee saw it dipped over the head of the Clondrohid keeper and with 12 minutes left, Dromtarriffe felt that it was hopefully going to be their day especially when McKee and centerback Jamie Kelleher potting over Insurance points to increase it further to a 10 point lead. With 6 minutes left, Clondrohid were awarded a penalty following a foul from wing back Sean Linehan but a saved spot kick from goalie Michael O Keeffe ending up in a free out was surly enough to see them into the semi final. And the insurance was sealed as super sub Jack Kelleher banged one into the net as they claimed victory on a Full Time Score of Dromtarriffe: 5-16(31) Clondrohid: 4-6(18). Dromtarriffe will now play the semi final this Saturday vs Adrigole. BUSY WEEK FOR OUR FOOTBALLERS
A busy week for our footballers started last Tuesday when St Michaels provided the opposition in Mallow. Two Shane Collins goals led the way combined with points scoring from Daniel O Keeffe 0-5; Collins 0-2, Seamus O Sullivan 0-2 Evan Murphy and Michael Healy 0-1 each to defeat St Michaels 2-11 to 2-5.
Onto Macroom last Sunday to face Uibh Laoire in the county semi final. Our opponents opened with an early goal . Centre forward Denis O Donoghue opened for Dromtarriffe but Uibh Laoire quickly added their first point. An industrious Evan Murphy pointed and then Dromtarriffe received a boost when Daniel O Keeffe goaled on the 10th minute. A free and a point were added by Uibh Loaire but O Keeffe again drew us level. Uibh Loaire kept mounting pressure but our defense stood firm in particular Sean Howard & Conor O Callaghan. Uibh Laoire added the next 3 scores through a 45, free and 1 from play. Dromtarriffe finished out the half through an O Keeffe & Shane Collins point 2 points in arrears 1-5 to 1-7. Early points for O Keeffe ( free) and Adam Buckley had us again level but Uibh Laoire went ahead again by two. Domtarrife had a brace of points from both O Keeffe & Conor O Callaghan to bring Dromtarriffe 1 point to the fore heading into the last 6 minutes of the match. Would they hold on– Uibh Loaire came up and equalized as the clock ticked towards the full time whistle. Extra time however Dromtarriffe finished strong through great points from O Keeffe & Evan Murphy . So its onto the County final due to be played in Pairc Ui Rinn next Saturday night but please check club social media pages for confirmation of this fixture.
