Talk on WW1
CHARLEVILLE Heritage Society’s next talk, on Thursday, November 22, will be delivered by military historian Jerry White on the centenary of the First World War.
The talk will be at the E Centre, Baker’s Road, Charleville starting at 8.15pm.
Over 50 men who enlisted in the British Army from Charleville and area were involved in the fighting and did not return from the theatres of war in which they were involved.
These included men who fell in battle on the Western Front and elsewhere in Europe, and who now lie under a foreign sky far from their native town. They will be remembered on this the centenary of the war which was supposed to end all wars but, of course, didn’t.
