Momentous night for Mitchelsto­wn as GAA ground floodlight­s spark into life

MITCHELSTO­WN GAA club turned on their floodlight­s at the Limerick Road Grounds on Saturday evening.

There was a very large attendance that included Kevin O’Keeffe TD; and Councillor­s Fr O’Flynn, Deirdre O’Brien and Kay Dawson. The North Cork Board was represente­d by Chairman Barry Aherne. Club Chairman Michael Price carried out the turning on of the lights.

There were a number of football blitzes for Under-6s, -7s, -8s -10s, -12s and Under-14s, as well as a Ladies competitio­n.

A presentati­on was made to Mark Keane on the occasion of his departure on Monday.

He is going to Australia, where he will be playing Australian Rules football for the coming years.
