MGH patients invited to share their experiences

- BILL BROWNE

MEMBERS of the public have been invited to share their experiences of Mallow General Hospital (MGH) at an open forum meeting taking place in Cork City next Tuesday morning.

Organised by the South/South West Hospital Group, the patient engagement session will take place the Erinville Complex on the Western Road from 11am – 4.30pm.

Patients who have attended MGH, their family members and carers and volunteers with links to the hospital will have the opportunity to meet and engage with senior hospital staff during the course of the day.

The event is part of a wider initiative aimed at reviewing general services and operational activities within all of the groups 10 hospitals across Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Kilkenny.

Gerry O’Dwyer, CEO of the South/SouthWest Hospital Group, said the session would be an opportunity for people to share their experiences of the time they had spent at MGH.

“We want to engage with the public in order to get a greater understanding of patient experience and to use their feedback as a basis to inform future planning and development of hospital services to deliver optimal patient-centred care within the group,” said Mr O’Dwyer.

He said the session would provide a welcome platform to discuss the range of services at MGH in addition to “the core HSE values of care, compassion, trust and learning at Mallow General Hospital.”

“As group we highly value patient feedback in order to identify areas that may require extra care and attention, in turn allowing us to enhance the overall patient experience,” said Mr O’Dwyer.

“Each hospital within our group strives to deliver the highest possible standard of patient care and we look forward to hearing the feedback from the people of Mallow.”
