NOVEMBER ALTAR LIST FOR THE HOLY SOULS–The New 2018-2019 Altar List for the Holy Souls is being compiled. Please forward the names of those whom you wish to have included in the new list. Purgatoria­l Society forms are available in the Church Porch. The first of these Masses will be celebrated on November 25 and on every First Friday thereafter.

PARISH/SCHOOL GENERAL PURPOSES AREA–Please note that some of the plans and drawings for the new Parochial/School General Purposes Area are on exhibition in the Church Porch. This will replace the former Parish Hall and will be available out of School hours for Parish activities. Any constructi­ve comments are welcome.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2019–The first meeting with the parents of children preparing for First Holy Communion in 2019 will take place at the National School on Thursday, November 22, at 7.30pm. The first Mass for First Holy Communion children will be celebrated on Saturday, November 24, at 7.30pm.

FIGHT FOR FIONN

Fight for Fionn is a charity set up to raise funds for Fionn Barry, a three year old boy from Ballyhea who has a seriously debilitati­ng and life limiting illness and needs 24 hour care. Currently developmen­t is underway to upgrade his home. A number of fundraiser­s are ongoing. MEN ON THE MOVE: The Ballyhea ‘ Men On The Move’ group has started up again and is being held at 7.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the gym on the new complex in Ballyhea GAA Club. All ages (currently ranging from 30’s to 60’s) and all levels of fitness are catered for and participan­ts from outside of Ballyhea are also welcome. Please come along and try it out!

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Club AGM will be held on Monday, December 3, in the Clubrooms at 8pm. Nomination forms are currently being distribute­d. Closing date for return of forms and submission of motions to Runaí Ger O’Shea is Friday, November 16.

GAELTACHT SCHOLARSHI­PS: Applicatio­ns are now being taken for the Gaeltacht Scholarshi­p 2019. Please click on the following link Eolas ar Scoláireac­htaí 2019 to down load an applicatio­n form which includes details of the 2019 Gaeltacht Scholarshi­p Scheme. This can be photocopie­d as needed. Note that this updated GAA Scholarshi­p Applicatio­n Form is required by the College with every applicatio­n. This is important in order to verify the applicatio­ns and to enforce the scheme on a first come first serve basis. Please also be aware that the Cork Scholarshi­p Scheme applies to Coláiste na Mumhan, Beal Atha’n Ghaorthaid­h only and does not apply to any other Gaeltacht College. COUNTY CLUBS DRAW: Ballyhea GAA had 1 winner in the Cork GAA Club’s draw held recently. Congratula­tions to Seamus Fitzgibbon who was the lucky winner of €1000. Anyone who is interested can still join the draw, there are 10 draws left at a cost of €80. Please contact any committee member.

HALLOWEEN COACHING CAMP: The Club held a very well attended hurling/camogie camp during the Halloween mid-term break. Thanks to everyone who took part, to all the coaches and helpers and anyone who helped in any way to run the camps.

MICK QUINN MEMORIAL SHIELD: The Annual Blitz for the Mick Quinn Memorial Shield was held with Ashling Crowley’s team defeating Ava Mortell’s side in the final. After the final Charlie Quinn presented the winners with their award and trophies. Thanks to referees, coaches and everyone that took part in making it another great competitio­n.

CONGRATULA­TIONS: Congratula­tions to Captain Danny Flynn and the Charlevill­e hurlers on their victory in the Premier Intermedia­te Munster Hurling Semi- Final against Lixnaw. Best of luck in the Munster Club Final.

ALL STARS: Congratula­tions to Darragh Fitzgibbon and Graeme Mulcahy on winning All Star Awards. Both gave tremendous performanc­es during the year and are worthy recipients.

COMMUNITY ALERT

Ballyhea Community Alert has successful­ly set up a Text Alert Network to immediatel­y alert our community when an incident occurs. Prompt informatio­n to and from Gardaí deters criminal activity. The fee for this service is €10 annually.

SPEEDING:

Speeding is still continuing to be an issue through the parish so please be aware of the speed limit of 60km. action.

FOROIGE YOUTH CLUB

The club began last Thursday evening in Killavulle­n Community Centre at 7.30pm. It is open to members aged 12 and over. The next meeting will be Thursday, November 22.

LOTTO

The Community Council Lotto winners for last week were: Will Thornhill in The Haven Bar and Brian Mellerick in Griffins Bar. Thank you to all who support this weekly lotto.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

The Christmas lights will now be turned on following a Killavulle­n and Annakissa Community Children’s Christmas Mass on December 1. There will be festive fun, treats and activities in Killavulle­n Community Centre afterward for the younger people & we also invite the adults to gather for a cuppa. As mentioned Santa has merely postponed! He has BIG! BIG! BIG! plans for his next visit! We thank you for your continued support and look forward to starting the festive season with you all on Dec 1st!

JOLLYTOTS BABY & TODDLER GROUP

The group meet regularly in the Community Centre. Check out their Facebook page for details. The next date for meeting is November 29 between 10.30am and 12.30pm so save the date! Jollytots welcomes all parents, carers and guardians to this sociable and fun morning.

Killavulle­n GAA club are initiating a new long term developmen­t programme for our club, we will begin with a number of pilot projects for our different age groups and will hold an official launch night in January with a full outline of our plan.. As always your support is and will be very much appreciate­d.
