Fine fare on offer at Duhallow Scór finals
THE Kanturk Credit Union sponsored Duhallow Scór na nÓg Finals attracted exciting fare during its successful staging in the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk.
Featuring a wealth of diverse entertainment in music, song and dance, the event saw participating clubs from across the north west division displaying their cultural talents to an appreciative attendance.
As had been expected, the event generated a terrific atmosphere as the day progressed, with the Boherbue and Cullen areas given particular reason to celebrate as the club scooped three outright wins.
Meelin, Millstreet and Newmarket collected one win apiece.
It was a case of business as usual for Boherbue in dancing, posting a win with an eight hand jig in Figure Dancing. For good measure, Boherbue added the Leiriú with their hilarious ‘ The Hurling Season’, while Emma O’Keeffe added the Recitation with her offering of an extract from ‘Moll’.
At Solo Singing, Katie O’Sullivan delivered a delightful rendition of ‘Cottage with the Roses Around the Door’ and her Cullen colleagues adding the Ballad Group category.
And Cullen helped generate a toe tapping rhythm in a selection of jigs and reels at instrumental music with Conor Lehane from Millstreet repeating the exercise in solo music. Meelin hit the victory trail in Sean-nós dancing thanks to Nancy Lehane.
Tony McAulliffe compered the proceedings as Fear An Tí with organising chairman Liam Buckley complimenting all involved in participating and the clubs on promoting scór, as well as Kanturk Credit Union for their continued support with representative James Murphy on hand to present the prizes.
The Duhallow winners go forward to the County Scór na nOg Finals on Friday, December 28.
