Kenneally puts his hat in ring for Cork PRO job
KANTURK club Secretary Francis Kenneally has thrown his hat into the ring to contest the upcoming Cork County Board Elections for the position of PRO.
The well known businessman has provided unstinting dedication to the GAA in the Duhallow capital through a lifetime of involvement, his immense commitment to Kanturk bringing unprecedented success for individuals and teams culminating on All Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship honours claimed last February.
Kenneally is no stranger to county level, a club delegate for a long number of years in addition to supporting various units of the organisation. Also in the hunt for the PRO position are current Rebel Óg IT officer Cian O’Brien (Glen Rovers/St Nicholas) and Beara PRO Joseph Blake (Adrigole).
Meanwhile, the appointment of Kevin O’Donovan as the new county secretary, replacing Frank Murphy sees his current position of vice-chairman become available. A number of contenders are nominated, the candidates expected to challenge for the position are Marc Sheehan (Aghabullogue), Noel O’Callaghan (Clonakilty) and outgoing PRO Donal Leahy (Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh).
No election for one available position, outgoing Cultural Officer Jerry Walsh from Ballydesmond is replaced by Duhallow colleague Richard Murphy (Banteer/Lyre).
For posts up for grabs, there is an electorate of more 800 postal votes available, the electorate drawn from clubs and club delegates, votes will be counted ahead of County Convention on Saturday, December 15 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
