St. Colman’s (Fermoy) 1-12 Gael Cholaiste (Mhuire) 0-9

A PHYSICALLY stronger St Colman’s side were too strong for Gael Cholaiste (North Mon) in the second round Dr. Harty Cup (Munster Colleges Senior A HC) at Rathcormac on Thursday. James Kearney soloed through in the second minute and opened the scoring. Good play by Darragh Flynn led to a David Lardner point after five minutes.

Gael Cholaiste had three wides with David Lardner with a free in the 13th minute making 0-3 to 0-0. A well placed puckout by Lucas O’ Donnabhain found Dale O’Teimhneacain who pointed. The City side followed with a long range pointed free by Daire O’Conaire. O’ Conaire levelled with another long range pointed free 0-3 each. Shane O’Riagain gave Gael Cholaiste the lead with a massive point from near the sideline. The lead was short lived as David Morrisson goaled for the winners who edged 1-3 to 0-4 clear.

St. Colman’s were wide from a free before they edged a goal clear when David Lardner pointed after a long range free by Eoin Roche was gathered by Brian Roche who placed the inrushing David Lardner for the point. In the 26th minute Gael Cholaiste came within two when a sideline cut by Caoimhin O Muimhneachain was collected by Stiofain O Bradaigh who linked up with Caoimhin O Siochain who placed Shane O Riagain for a great point. Colman’s regained the goal lead when Brian Roche pointed.

In the closing moments Eoin Carey pointed with Daire O’Conaire completing the scoring with an injury-time ‘65’ to make it 1-6 to 0-6 at the break.

On the restart Lucas O’Murchu cut through and was denied by Colman’s keeper Ben Hogan. David Lardner followed with a pointed free. Shane O’Riagain kept the Gael Cholaiste hopes alive with a pointed free as Colman’s still led by a goal 1-7 to 0-7. Gael Cholaiste had two wides with Colman’s David Lardner pointing a free after a foul on Eoin Carey. David Lardner with another free opened up a five point lead. The ‘Mon’ missed a few chances.
