Boherbue fancied for league title
BOHERBUE return to Donoughmore on Saturday on a meeting against St. Michaels in the County JAFL Final. Disappointment surfaced for both sides over recent weeks, championship hopes ran out of road on defeats incurred by eventual finalists Dromariffe and Kilmacabea.
St. Michaels parading a second string outfit finished runners up to Delaneys in the City JAFC Final. Into the county, they overcame Valley Rovers before succumbing to Dromtariffe by six points in a quarter-final.
Mixed fortunes for St. Michaels in crunch games, losing the County Premier IFC Final to Fermoy before savouring a County Premier 1 Minor Football Championship title at the expense of Nemo Rangers.
For their part, Boherbue had real aspirations of creating an impact on the county after retaining a divisional crown following a replay victory over Dromtariffe. A good victory followed over Canovee but in a quarter final packed with entertainment over two games, Boherbue faltered to a physically stronger Kilmacabea in damp conditions.
A chance here for some consolation for both St. Michaels and Boherbue, expect a competitive battle between the pair in search of a league title. St. Michaels received a walkover from Kilmurry last weekend owing to players involved with Cloughduv hurlers whereas Boherbue got a good test from Carrig na bhFear in Donoughmore.
That may be good enough for a better equipped Boherbue to secure the honours.
