THANK YOU

A sincere thank you goes to those who organised, hosted and attended last Friday night’s Community Council Table Quiz in aid of the Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party.

The turnout was overwhelming and was most appreciated. The money raised on the night goes towards an evening of fine food and entertainment in Killavullen Community Centre on December 7th for our esteemed older members of our community.

The winners on the night were 1st: John Notter, Mary Notter, Niall Hanrahan & Paul Murray. In 2nd place was the team comprised of Edmund O’Gorman, Eileen O’Gorman, Jason Haugh and Barry Doyle. In a tie-breaking third place came Ian O’Gorman, Melissa Dunne, Pa Sheehan and Dee Sheehan.

The tie-breaker on the night caused great fun and debate : If I left Magner’s Pub and went to Griffin’s Pub in Skenakilla and drove back down to The Haven, what distance did I travel, in kilometers!! No prizes anymore for guessing, but it created great banter on the night.

Our thanks goes to The Haven Bar for hosting the quiz and to our Quiz Master John Beechinor for his questions. Thanks too to all who helped on the night.. It was indeed true community spirit in action.

Invitations for the annual Christmas Party for the Senior Citizens are being distributed at the moment. We look forward to this sociable event on Friday December 7th and are thankful to all who have helped us to prepare for it.
