Cavanaghs opens new dealership in Mallow
FORD Dealer Cavanaghs of Charleville officially opened its new dealership in Townview, Mallow, in front of a large attendance last Thursday evening.
The north Cork dealer moved into the premises which was formerly occupied by O’Brien’s of Mallow and, prior to that, O’Connells of Mallow. The name of Ford has had a presence in Mallow town dating back to 1911.
The large attendance – made up of customers, local businesses, friends and colleagues – that had gathered to open the dealership also had some notable guests present. These included Irish rugby international and Munster forward Tommy O’Donnell; former Cork hurler, All-Ireland winning captain and Charleville Intermediate-winning team coach, Ben O’Connor; and Paschal Sheehy of RTÉ News.
The gathering was first addressed by Paul O’Sullivan, Sales Director at Ford Ireland. Mr O’Sullivan pointed to the long association of Ford with Mallow town and was glad to see that association continue in the safe hands of Cavanaghs.
He was followed by Cavanaghs Managing Director, Mr Martin Condon, who spoke warmly of the previous Ford Dealers who occupied the site at Townview – most notably Mr Eamonn O’Connell.
Mr Condon referred to the huge potential of Mallow town and how its townspeople had been so welcoming to the company from the day it arrived. He spoke of his satisfaction that Cavanaghs was able to continue the business in the town and pointed out that both Mallow and Charleville now had 64 employees between them.
Finally, it was left to Pat Hayes, President of Mallow Chamber, to address the gathering and welcome the Cavanaghs management and staff to Mallow, before cutting the ribbon and officially opening Cavanaghs of Mallow to the public.
