Development land in Lombardstown to go up for grabs at online auction

- BILL BROWNE

THE virtual hammer is set to come down on four lots situated in the north Cork area at the forthcoming December Bid X1 online auction of residential and commercial properties.

The properties in Mallow, Rathcormac, Buttevant and Dromina will be among almost 240 lots up for grabs at the auction, which will take place over two days on December 12 and 13.

The first day will be dedicated to residential properties, featuring a trio of lots of local interest.

The first of these will be a mid-terrace, three-bedroom house at the Manor Mills development in Rathcormac with a C1 BER rating.

The vacant 1,209 sq ft house has a rear garden, off-street parking and comes with a reserve not to exceed €120,000. Viewings will take place this coming Saturday, next Tuesday and the following Saturday from 2.30pm-3.30pm.

A vacant, three-bedroom semi-detached house at Ard Bhuile, Kanturk Rd, Buttevant will also go under the hammer with a reserve not to exceed €60,000.

Extending to approximately 1,098 sq ft, the property has off-street parking and gardens to the rear and front.

The final lot of local interest of the first day of the auction will be a mid-terrace, three-bedroom house at Meadow Side, Dromina. The empty house, which extends to approximately 914 sq ft and has a garden to the rear, has a reserve not to exceed €60,000.

Arguably the stand out lot of the four local ones will be a 3,83 hectare parcel of land at Lombardstown that has a reserve not to exceed €140,000 that will be up for grabs on the second day of the auction.

Described in the Bid X1 catalogue as “development land opportunity (subject to obtaining all necessary consents)”, the site is immediately abutting, and partly within, the Lombardstown Settlement Boundary as defined in the Kanturk/ Mallow Municipal District Local Area Plan (2017).

According to the Bid X1 catalogue, the larger (circa) 3.6 hectare portion of the site “may facilitate the co-ordinated expansion of Lombardstown village in a future Local Area Plan.”

It said the remaining portion of the site may be suited for residential development in accordance with the vision expressed in the Local Area plan which s seeks to ‘encourage small scale residential development, sympathetic to the character of the village in tandem with provision of employment and services.’

Registration for the auction will open on Friday, December 7 and a bidding deposit of €4,500 will be required for each lot.
