St. Colman’s through to Harty Cup quarter-finals

St. Colman’s Fermoy 2-19 Ard Scoil Limerick 1-15

A PHYSICALLY stronger St Colman’s side had a comfortabl­e win over reigning champions Ard Scoil Ris in the Dr Harty Cup at Kilmallock on Wednesday. From the start the winners gained supremecy, they had an early goal by James Kearney.

Ard Scoil had some good points by Cathal O’Neill and Conor Bourke. The Limerick side led by a point after 10 minutes. They were deadlocked at 1-3 to 0-6 after 15 minutes. St. Colman’s gained control in midfield where Eoin Carey and Darragh Flynn did very well. Ard Scoil had some bad wides. At half time St Colman’s led 1-8 to 0-8.

Darragh Flynn pointed on the restart. Further pressure opened up a five point lead. David Lardner hit some good points mainly from frees.

Colman’s had some fine long range points by Darragh Flynn and Eoin Carey. Ard Scoil replied with points by Shane Long and Cathal O’Neill. Colman’s were on their way to the quarter finals long before the final whistle. Ard Scoil had their goal very late when Cathal O’Neill netted from a penalty. This win puts Ard Scoil out of the race for the knockout stages. Colman’s have topped the group with Nenagh CBS taking the runners up spot. The draw for the quarter finals will take place in December. ST.
