THE launch of Kanturk Arts Festival 2019 promises to be a lively affair with entertainment by a great acapella group from Mallow.

The launch of the festival programme will take place at Kanturk Rugby Club where there will be entertainment by Various Voices, an acapella group from Mallow, of which one of its members, Eoin Leahy, is a very popular baritone and no stranger to the Kanturk festival in recent years.

Cllr Bernard Moynihan (FF) will launch the festival on Wednesday, February 6, and this year the festival will run from March 15-18.

At the night of the launch there will also be a performance from two members of Mallow Speakeasy Club along with music from Kanturk musician, Jayne Harrington.

At the night of the launch, the festival Committee will also be launching a ‘Friends of the Festival’ initiative. For just €20, there will be free entry into a number of events taking place over the year. “We launched Friends in a small way last year and we were very pleased with the response. We are again hoping for support this year in order to develop and grow the festival,” said Lisa Egan, festival chairperson.

She also said that Friends of the Festival 2019 will have free entry into the world première of Ruti Lach’s show ‘A Different Kettle’ on March 9. There will be a number of other events throughout the year where Friends will have free admission.
