Charleville date for ‘Teen Talk’ seminar
PROMOTING the importance of mental health, fitness and general well-being among young people across Cork will be the focus of a seminar taking place in Charleville next month.
The ‘ Teen Talk’, co-ordinated by Cork County Council, will take place at the Charleville Park Hotel on Thursday, February 28, is one of a number of similar events taking place at venues across the county.
The free talks will see speakers including TV personality Kathryn Thomas, Cork sporting legends Anna Geary and Derval O’Rourke, former MMA fighter and positive mental health advocate Pat Divilly and entrepreneur and fitness guru Graham McCorkmack share their tips for a happier and healthier life with Transition Year students from local schools.
The Mayor of County Cork, Cllr Patrick Gerard Murphy, said that as part of the ‘Health Cork’ initiative the authority was “committed to supporting our young people and their health and well-being.”
“We are inviting TY students across Cork to come to Teen Talks, hear from their peers, health and fitness experts and those who are experienced in creating coping mechanisms for the challenges that we face today,” said Mayor Murphy.
Cork County Council CEO Tim Lucey said the Teen Talks will communicate important messages about life and positive changes that young people can adopt to “help live a healthy, happy life.”
“This series of events supports our students, and really looks at ways to deal with school, family, health and social media challenges through the power of positive mental health, fitness and nutrition. We have a great line up of young speakers that will inspire and motivate students attending Teen Talks in Cork in 2019,” said Mr Lucey.
