Full steam ahead for 2019 arts fest

THE committee of the 2019 Kanturk Arts Festival is busy putting the finishing touches to an exciting and eclectic programme of events for this year’s staging.

The committee have ensured that there is something for everyone - from art and music to drama and poetry - and are confident of a good local response. This year’s festival takes place from Friday 15th March to Monday 18th inclusive and organisers look forward to greeting and meeting new friends and old.

On Wednesday, February 6th at 8pm in Kanturk Rugby Club, Chair of the Kanturk-Mallow Municipal District, Councillor Bernard Moynihan, will officially launch this year’s festival programme. Also appearing on the night will be a capella group, Various Voices from Mallow, promising young musician Jayne Harrington from Kanturk and Speakeasy Toastmaste­rs from Mallow will entertain the audience.

At the launch further details of what’s in store for this year’s festival will be revealed. Among the many highlights this year will be a Flash Fiction Workshop with award winning writer Nuala O’Connor, which will take place during the Arts Festival Weekend from 10am-1pm on Saturday, March 16th at the Trades Union Hall.
