Table quiz for Lourdes volunteers

-

POSERS on Brexit may well be on offer at a fund-raising table quiz in the Wallis Arms Hotel this Friday night.

Four fifth-year students from Millstreet Community School will be participating as helpers in the pilgrimage to Lourdes for a week at Easter 2019. Volunteers Caoimhe O’Leary, Emma Brady, Michelle O’Riordan and Sarah Bourke will travel with the Irish Pilgrimage Trust.

The cost of their travel and accommodation is €670 per person, and the hope is that they’ll be able to cover these costs through fundraising efforts.

Upcoming, there is a table quiz in The Wallis Arms Hotel this Friday night, commencing at 8pm, and a table of four will cost €40.

There will be a raffle during the table quiz and, once again, Mr Patrick O’Leary has kindly donated some items as prizes.

Mr O’Leary, whose hometown is Louisville, Kentucky, has strong connections with Millstreet. His great-grandfather, John Patrick O’Leary, was born in Millstreet and is a close relative to Séan Radley.

Most of the items donated have an equestrian theme, which highlights another link between Millstreet and Louisville.

That’s because the Kentucky Derby has been run for the last 144 years at the Churchill Downs racetrack, which is 15 miles from Mr O’Leary’s home.

Millstreet students are most grateful for his support towards their fundraising efforts from 3,000 miles away.
