Ballygibli­n GAA celebrates its 2018 successes

BALLYGIBLI­N GAA Club held its Victory Social in the Firgrove Hotel on Saturday night.

There was a large attendance present, and Club Chairman Liam O’Doherty presided.

Members of the Junior A hurling side, who won Divisional medals for the first time since 2004, received their medals from Club President Jim Moher.

The following players came forward for their medals: Christophe­r Noonan (captain); Greg Carroll; Fionn Herlihy; Diarmuid Lynch; Brian O’Gorman; Barry Coffey; James Mullins; Dean Barry; Lorcan Finn; Sean O’Sullivan; George Pendle; Pat Molloy; Cathal O’Mahony; Mark Keane; Brian O’Sullivan; Joseph O’Sullivan; Dave Moher; Paul Seymour; Eoin Burke; Shane Cahill; Cathal O’Sullivan; John O’Donoghue; Shane Beston; Brian Coughlan; Seamus Barrett; Justin Conroy; Michael Walsh; Aidan Donegan; Diarmuid Noonan; Shane Frewen; and Liam O’Gorman.

Two players – Dave Moher and Diarmuid Lynch, who have played for the club for a combined period of 54 years – received a special presentati­on on the night.

Both of these players had won three North Cork Junior Hurling Championsh­ip medals; and one County Senior Hurling Championsh­ip medal with Avondhu in 1996.

Dave Moher won three All-Ireland Intermedia­te Hurling Championsh­ip medals with Cork, while Diarmuid Lynch won two.

Diarmuid Lynch was successful in six North Cork Junior A Football Championsh­ip finals with Mitchelsto­wn, while Dave Moher won five North Cork football championsh­ip medals.

Both were members of the Mitchelsto­wn side that won the County Junior A Football title in 2013.

Also, it has been announced that St Fanahan’s Camogie Club will hold a function of its own on February 9 to mark the 50th anniversar­y of the founding of the club.
