It’s that time of the year again when the annual “PANTO” comes to town. The annual event is produced in conjunctio­n with Buttevant Panto Club and the Dorada School of Dance and is the highlight of the entertainm­ent calendar in Buttevant.

The show this year is entitled “The Wizard that Woznt”. The show is being staged in the local G.A.A.hall on this Friday Februaury 1 and this Saturday February 2 with the curtain rising at 7.30p.m. There will be fun and entertainm­ent to suit all tastes and age groups and a great evenings’ entertainm­ent fun and frivolity is assured. Tickets can be purchased at the door on both nights with adults admission at €12 and children admitted at €6. Early attendance is advisable. Your support is always appreciate­d.

TIDINESS

Buttevant underwent some major road and footpath developmen­t some time past which made a great difference to the appearance and general outlook of the town. Sadly the condition of some areas of the main street has deteriorat­ed since that developmen­t. The footpaths have become green with algae and grass is coming through the crevices of the pavements. Perhaps a good power-wash and a treatment of chloras would improve the condition of the pavements and restore them to their former state of cleanlines­s. Also it is sad to see that there is an abundance of dog-pooh all over the footpaths as it appears that some animal owners are not cleaning up when their pets have done their business.

Also there is an amount of litter strewn all over the footpaths and street particular­ly at the weekends. The majority of this litter is as a result of people dropping remnants of their fast-food purchases. Sadly Buttevant has no
