MUNSTER JUNIOR CUP
Muskerry 13 Mallow 18
this Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Plategame will be rescheduled.
In the meantime, sixth placed Fethard & District will welcome Charleville next Sunday with the visitors looking to continue their push up the table from the very respectable fourth position they currently hold.
Charleville have been very impressive this season and while they won’t win the title in 2019 they may well be in a stronger position come the next campaign.
MUNSTER JUNIOR PLATE
Fermoy 41 Killarney 13
IN the Munster Junior Plate Fermoy took to the field last weekend looking to see off Kerry side Killarney. The north Cork side have had a really good league to this point and have also showed well in the other junior competitions.
The Cork men went into this one as favourites and justified that faith by seeing off the visitors comfortably on a score-line of 41-13.
Eoin Lacey bagged a brace of tries for the victors while also adding four conversions and a penalty. Dylan Foley, Tom Murphy, Peter Skuse and Frankie Flynn added to the Kingdom side’s pain with a try apiece to book their place in the latter stages of this prestigious competition.
A try from Ger Moynihan was Killarney’s main response with the conversion coming from Oisin O’Shea - who also added two penalties to round off the Killarney challenge.
Fifth placed Fermoy hit the road next Sunday to take on an Old Christian’s side that currently sit two places behind in the J2 table.
Both sides will be looking to take the spoils as a place in the top four is still well within their grasp.
MUNSTER J-LEAGUE DIVISION 1
Kanturk v Clanwilliam
LAST but not least is the J1 clash between Kanturk and Clanwilliam at Knocknacolon. Kanturk currently sit second from bottom in the top tier and with just three games remaining need at least two wins from that three to have a credible chance of staying up.
Kanturk really do need something from this weekend and if they do manage to win then the club will likely have an all or nothing clash with St Senan’s on the final day of the season.
MUNSTER J-LEAGUE DIVISION 3
Killarney v Mitchelstown
IN the J3 Mitchelstown head to Killarney for their last league fixture of the season. The Cork side currently sit second and regardless of what they do this weekend are at least guaranteed a place in the promotion playoff however a bonus point win this weekend, allied to a Tralee loss could see the Cork side straight up to the J2. It’s a huge weekend for Mitchelstown.
