Banteer
JUVENILE GAA CLUB AWARD
Juvenile Club chairman James Kearney, along with his son Alan, were in Pairc Ui Rinn this past Sun to collect the Banteer Lyre Juv GAA Club Silver Award in the Rebel Óg Benchmarking process. Rebel Óg Coaching Benchmarking 2020 was successfully launched in early 2015 and provides a template for best practice in coaching, promoting maximum participation and optimal playing standards in juvenile clubs throughout Cork city and county.
This is great recognition of the good work that is being done in the club and all the 2019 Club Officers, both in the Juvenile Club but also in the adult club, will be endeavouring to build on this. The planning for this has been taking place with Coaching Officer Niall Looney holding a series of coaching workshops in January and through this process the club is formulating a Coaching Framework that will further enhance all the good work taking place in the club.

TRAFFIC-CALMING
Banteer Lyre and Districts Community Council have submitted a grant application for traffic-calming measures and for speed controls in Banteer village to include speed cushions, speed flashing signs and the local community have made a contribution towards the costs. Garda speed checks will also continue in the meantime. Serious concerns were expressed at a public meeting last March that, unless we install traffic speed controls, then the risk of serious injury or a fatality is high.
