DR CROKE HOUSE

In mid-February there will be a history night in Dr Croke house where there will be a special guest speaker. Once details are finalised we will let you know in this column. We have interest from some schools in visiting Dr Croke House in the coming months. We are looking for volunteers to act as tour guides for these visits which will take place on weekdays. Information on the facility will be provided as well as a DVD that is in place at the house.

If anyone is interested in this , and has some spare time please contact a member of the community council committee or leave your name in the social club. This should only take an hour a month so no big commitment is required. We would also like to thank the Corkery family and Niall O’Sullivan for the furniture they provided for Dr Croke house. If anyone has old pictures that they feel would enhance the house and are willing to donate them please contact the Kilbrin Community Council PRO on the below contact details.

TRAFFIC-CALMING MEASURES

In the coming weeks work will commence on the traffic calming measures through the village. We would ask that everyone show due care and patience while this work is ongoing. This will be of great benefit to the village once complete and make it much safer for residents and especially the school children.

RENOVATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY CENTRE

Work is continuing on the roof of the social club. When this is finished the centre will have been totally refurbished from start to finish. A huge thanks to everyone that contributed to this and the general support from the whole community is greatly appreciated.

GROTTO CROSS

As you may have noticed the wall has been erected and we are looking to put features on it. As usual we are looking to the public for ideas so if anyone has ideas for features please contact the Kilbrin Community Council PRO on the below details.

SPRING CLEAN-UP

In the coming weeks we will be organising spring clean-up days in the locality. We would ask that people start whenever they can. You can leave bags at the roadside. For anyone going on a family walk this is a great way to educate children on the problem of litter. More details will follow on this column when the dates for the pickup trucks are organised.
