GAA CLUB AGM
The Annual General Meeting of Lismire GAA Club was held in the Community Centre recently. In his opening address, Chairman Tony McAuliffe congratulated the footballers on their victory in the Junior C Football Championship and thanked all the members who gave up their free time to do work for the club.
He paid tribute to one of the founder members of the club, Donal Kearney, who passed away during the year. Donal, affectionately known as Roger was appointed joint Treasurer with Paul Kelly at the inaugural meeting of the club in 1972. Since then Donal has served the club in many notable capacities none more so than as Selector on the 3 in a row Junior A Hurling Championship team in 1983 1985. He was instrumental in many of the development projects of the club from the purchase and development of the field to the building of the Community Centre which is widely used through various local clubs and organisations. In her annual report outgoing Club Secretary, Dympna O’Neill gave a detailed account of the club’s activities during the year and thanked the officers and members who helped her during her term of office. Treasurer, Tom Stritch presented a comprehensive account of the club finances and emphasised the importance of fundraising in the face of spiralling club running costs.
Following a discussion on various club topics the following officers were elected: Life Presidents Charlie O’Reilly, Con Ahern and Denis Jones; Chairman Tony McAuliffe; Vice-Chairman Maurice Field; Secretary Karen Field; Assistant Secretary Colm Noonan; Treasurer Tom Stritch; Registrar & Membership Officer Sean Duggan; PRO Oliver Kearney; ASAP Officer James O’Neill; Cultural Officer James Moynihan; Children’s Officer Dympna O’Neill; Players Rep Mark Field and Padraig Denn; Duhallow Board Delegates Maurice Field & Joe Aherne; County Board Delegates Tony McAuliffe & Oliver Kearney; Youth Officers: Maurice Hayes, Joe Noonan, James O’Neill, Edmund Hayes and Gerdy McSweeney; Committee: Club officers plus Colman Jones, Jeremiah O’Neill, Michael Kearney, Joanne Kiely, John Field, Pat Bourke and Tim Aherne.
Membership is now open at €30 for Adults and €45 for Family membership. New members welcome.
COUNTY BOARD DRAW WINNER
Congratulations to Patricia Field winner of a €150 voucher in the January County Board Draw. Club officers are very grateful for the large number of members who joined the draw as this is the main source of income for the day to day costs in running the club as well as financing the club’s various development projects.
There are fantastic prizes on offer throughout the year like monthly first prize of €20,000 cash, weekends away, vouchers and generous cash prizes. There are over 650 prizes in total in the draw. The monthly draw takes place on the last Thursday of each month with results published in the Irish Examiner on Saturday. MEMBERSHIP
GAA club membership is now being finalised at €30 for Adults and €45 for Family membership. New members are welcome and membership is available from Membership Officer Sean Duggan or any of the Club Officers.
