The weekly 45 Drive was well attended on Sunday night last. AROUND THE FIRESIDE

THURSDAY CLUB

LADIES NIGHT

Ladies Activity group will meet on Tuesday Feb 12th at 8 pm at Cois Abhann. The night includes some light exercise, a chat and a cuppa. All ladies welcome

ART CLASSES

The weekly Art class will commence in The Heritage Centre on Tuesday night next February 12th from 8pm to 10pm.

MACRA

Best of Luck to our debating team of Conor Judge, Sheila O Flynn, Noirín and Breda Stritch who will take on Portlaoise in the all Ireland Senior Debating quarter finals in Killeagh on February 9th next at 8pm.Our ladies enjoyed afternoon tea in The Aghadoe Heights in Killarney on Sunday last. A lovely evening was had by all.

Our members also attended the National Capers Final in WIT Waterford and Kenmare tractor run over the weekend.

The regional round of Impromptu debating will take place On February 15th.

Our social Thursdays continue this week with a bowling trip to The Planet in Blackpool at 9pm. All are welcome to attend. We hosted the Avondhu regional monthly meeting on Monday last. BOWLING NOTES

Denis Horgan Bowling Club-Winter Competitio­ns-Ned Kelleher and Mikie McAuliffe had a bowl of odds to spare over Aaron Mackey and Donal Cashman. Ned Kelleher was on the winning trail again, when he teamed up with Donal Cashman to record a last shot win over Aaron Mackey and Danny Murphy and had a similar win over Mikie McAuliffe and Maurice Cashman. Aaron Mackey and Mikie McAuliffe did the business with a bowl of odds win over Mikie Murphy and Maurice Cashman. In the second clash, it was Murphy and Cashman who produced the goods with a last shot win over Mackey and McAuliffe.

Footballer­s commenced their County Intermedia­te league away to St Finbarr’s on Saturday last. Conor O Callaghan opened the scoring followed by a Daniel O Keeffe free and a third Dromtarrif­fe score from an Adam Buckley point. Finbarr’s equalised at 3 a piece then another scoring spree saw Dromtarrif­fe added 2.4 to a solitery Finbarr’s point. The goals coming through Darren O Connor and Conor O Callaghan to register at half time 2.7 to 0.4 up. The second half commenced with 1.6 from the boot of the Dromtarrif­fe full forward O Keeffe to 0.3 to St Finbarr’s. Not to be out done our two hardworkin­g wing backs Brian O Keeffe & Tomas Howard popped over a point each with Shane Collins finishing their 3.16 total. Their next game is due to be at home in Rathcoole this Sunday ( 10th) v Ballinora. Please come out and support the squad.
