Great win for U12’s in cup tie

-

KANTURK AFC U12s played a cup match V Watergrashill in very wet and windy conditions on Sunday morning last, where the ending was somewhat extraordinary.

Both teams started well and there was very little between the two sides. Kanturk were unlucky not to score early on but good goalkeeping kept them out.

Both teams battled the elements and each other and it was all square at half time, nil all.

The second half picked up where the 1st ended, both with chances, great defensive work from the back three and goal keeping kept them out.

Watergrasshill took the lead 15 mins in from a well taken free kick. Kanturk took the match to Watergrasshill after this and stepped it up a gear. With 10mins left on the clock Donnacha O’Leary crossed in a great ball from the wing which was met by Gavin Finn and he put it in the back of the net.

From there, both teams battled to the end; full time: 1 all.

With conditions very poor, both teams agreed to go straight to penalites. Kanturk’s cool under pressure came out on top and two great saves and one goal scored from keeper Danny Cronin ensured Kanturk progressed to the next round.

Best for Kanturk: Danny Cronin, Dylan Morley, Eoin O’Keeffe.

Kanturk AFC arranged a bus to Turners Cross on Friday 12th for the Cork City Fc V St. Pat’s game at which the Under 11 squad played at half time for 15 minutes. This was well organised, thanks to CCFC. The Club would like to thank all coaches who travelled to Cork with the Kids - there was great excitement and they had a wonderful time.
