DROMTARIFFE G.A.A.
So we eagerly awaited this first round clash of the Cork Intermediate Championship and we were not disappointed. Two committed teams gave a thrilling hours football which was not spoilt by the cold and wet afternoon. Dromtarriffe took the early lead through points (3) Daniel O Keeffe and Shane Collins (1). With Millstreet adding four frees, again Dromtarriffe took the lead through a great move involving a flick from O Keeffe to the onrushing Adam Buckley who confidently found the back of the Millstreet net.
Half time saw the sides 1.6 to 0.6 in favour of Dromtarriffe. Millstreet piled on the pressure in the early third quarter with Sean Howard & Conor Cremin leading a solid defense. Midfield both Conor & Adam were working hard and limited Millstreet to 2 points. Dromtarriffe then turned on the magic in a move started by the industrious Evan Murphy passing off to the warrier Denis O Donoghue found the waiting Shane Collins who finished well for his first goal.
Dromtarriffe now returned to dominance and this was rewarded when O Keeffe found Collins for his second.
A late Millstreet goal was just a consolation as Dromtarriffe held out for a great 5 point victory. Scorers Daniel O Keeffe 0.8 Shane Collins 2.1 Adam Buckley 1.0 Conor O Callaghan 0.1.
