Strong showing for Laochra Óg teams

Laochra Óg round- up

LAOCHRA Óg U12 Camogie team played Millstreet last Monday at Coláiste Ghobnatan. The game was a good tough game for both teams with Laochra Óg coming out on top with a four points win.

The link up play at times was excellent with the point of the game from Ava McSweeney, a beautiful strike off her right way out the field. Lilly and Maise got great goals between them with super defending from Tara, Ellie Jane, Emer, Daisy and Rachel. Up front Clara, Isabelle, Aisling and Aoife worked very hard throughout with Ola, Aisling and Reailtin doing well.

Then on Thursday, the U8 camogie girls played against St Columns in Kealkil in lovely sunshine. After the first-half the girls came into their own during the rest of the game showing some good passing and being rewarded with some scores at the end of it. Improving all the time.

Meanwhile, the Summer

Camp 2019 days are August 12, 13 & 14 with registration details online @ www. laochraog.com. Closing date for the camp is July 20. This camp for juniors and young adults is a pilot project that has the backing of Martin Fogarty National Hurling Development Manager who will be in attendance.

The Junior Camp will have 12 coaches dedicated to the younger players ensuring that coaching of various skills is mixed with fun throughout the days.

The Development Camp concept for the U14/16 players, whilst developing their hurling skills with some very experienced senior coaches, will also focus on their health and wellbeing with presentations from: Martin Fogarty - Nutrition and Wellness; Jigsaw Mental Health Group - sport and its positive impact on mental health and wellbeing; Pieta House - services available and access to them; Rena Buckley - injury prevention and treatment and general discussion; Community Gardaí - their role and liaison within our community.

There will be fun along the way with the annual much anticipated mixed hurling/ camogie match.

Laochra Óg as a Hurling and Camogie club are here to ensure that all players, whilst performing to their best on the field, are also feeling their best off the field.
