Charlevill­e 2-15 Kildorrery 2-15

THIS Rebel Óg North MAHC game at Kildorrery on Thursday evening was a thriller all through.

Seán Cunningham opened with a pointed free for Kildorrery. Brian Forde levelled in the fifth minute. Impressive Oran O’Connell edged the Rathluirc side in front. Further Charlevill­e pressure led to Killian Cagney placing David Forde for a goal.

Cagney followed with a good delivery that led to a point by Oran O’Connell in the 8th minute 1-3 to 0-1. O’Connell added another point soon after. Kildorrery hit a purple patch.

First Cunningham pointed a free. Mattie Walsh-O’Grady placed Pierce Pigott who pointed and the latter followed with a goal after a long delivery from the half-back line as the lead was down to a point 1-4 to 1-3.

Oran O’Connell pointed again with Dylan O’Brien pointing after good play by Killian Cagney and David Forde. Kildorrery battled very hard.

They defended very well with Conor Kent, Richie Hurley and Mattie Walsh-O’Grady doing very well.

Charlevill­e forced a penalty in the 23rd minute. Nathan Relihan saved from Oran O’Connell’s penalty Sean Cunningham and Joey Herbert swopped a point with Kevin Smith pointing in injury time as Charlevill­e led at the break 1-8 to 1- 7.

On the resumption Seán Cunningham levelled from a free. The sides were also deadlocked at 1-9 each. Charlevill­e edged a point clear in the 38th minute. Kildorrery had their second goal by Cathal O’Sullivan with Seán Watson soloing through and placing Seán Cunningham who pointed 2-10 to 1-10.

Oran O’Connell added a pointed free with Stephen Ryan pointing in the 45th minutes as Kildorrery were 2-12 to 1-11 clear. Kieran Hurley with a very good point opened up a five point lead.

Charlevill­e improved greatly Killian Cagney was in great form. By the 54th minute Kildorrery were 2-13 to 1-13 clear. Joey Herbert levelled with a great goal 2-13 each. Sean Cunniungha­m pointed a free for the ‘Hill’.

Killian Cagney pointed from a ‘65 as they sides were deadlocked once more at 2-14 each. In the closing moments good play by Kevin Smith led to a Sean Cunningham point. In the 64th minute Oran O’Connell with a pointed free saw the sides finish all square.
