Contractor opens up brand new Mallow office

- BILL BROWNE

THERE was some good news for Mallow this week on the employment front after one of Ireland’s leading building contractors opened up a new office in the town.

Head-quartered in Co Offaly with offices in Dublin and London, Townmore already has strong links to the North Cork region having overseen the development of Buttevant Community College and been awarded the contact for the 46-unit Respond Housing development in Fermoy.

The company has also been involved in other Cork schemes including a hotel project in the city centre and the Earls Well residential development in Waterfall, as well as numerous other projects in Kerry, Limerick and Clare.

Formed in 2008, the company provides main and specialist contractor services to both the public and private sector across residential, hospitality, healthcare, industrial and controlled environments.

Townmore regional director Seamus Quirke said that given the company’s increasing profile across the Munster region over the past decade, it “made sense” to establish a Cork office.

“This expansion comes as full-time employment at Townmore exceeds 100 and with new contracts in Munster coming on stream, it made sense to focus our new phase of expansion in this region. As the company continues to grow a number of new roles will be created in Mallow,” said Mr Quirke.

“Mallow is the ideal southern base for our expanding team. We have found it to be an accessible and desirable location for professionals looking to further their construction careers. Following the establishment of our new office at Landscape Terrace, we look forward to continuing our existing relationships with our Munster-based clients and project partners,” he added.
